[important]THERE IS AN UPDATE TO THIS POST! CHECK OUT THE BEST E-CIGARETTES AND VAPORIZERS FOR 2017.[/important]

2016 started a new chapter in e-cigarette history as the popularity of ecigs, (categorically personified by Academy Award winner Leonardo Di Caprio), reached unprecedented proportions.

Estimates from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) reported 2.2 million vapers in Great Britain, while US surveys (presented at SRNT conference) found 15 to 21 million US adults regularly used e-cigarettes. It was also reported that 3.2 – 4.3 million e-cig users no longer regularly smoke cigarettes.

With ecig regulations taking effect in August of 2017, the best electronic cigarette companies (including our picks) are already prepared with strict safety standards that include,

  • highly stable batteries
  • child-proof packaging
  • safety features on high wattage advanced vaporizers
  • 100% pure, third-party tested e-liquid ingredients that are diacetyl, acetoin and acetyl propionyl free.

The ECigarette News team tested scores of ecigs, both beginner cig-alikes and advanced vaporizers. Here are our 5 Top Rated E-Cigarettes for 2016.

1-  Vaporfi

Vaporfi has one of the best traditionally styled e-cigarettes that can accommodate both pre-filled and refillable cartridges.

The Express Starter Kit has advanced lithium ion technology meaning it is more stable and unlikely to burn out or overcharge. The kit is priced right at only $64.99 and you get everything you need to start vaping. The mini Cartomizer holds.9 ml of eliquid.

Looking for customized vaporizer? Perhaps you prefer larger glass tank, or an adjustable volt battery? Vaporfi has it with their new on-line Custom Kit Builder that lets you choose colors and battery power as well as tank styles from an easy to use custom kit builder. Your vaporizer is displayed as you build the components.

Vaporfi has kept up with ecig innovation. In 2016 they introduced the VOXTC 50Watt Temperature Control MOD – an advanced ecig that even handles sub-ohm vaping with added safety features.

3- Apollo Cigs

Vape Apollo ecigarettes- ecigarette news

Apollo is another great ecig company that offers a wide rage of quality vaping products from beginner ecigs to advanced mods. Their customer service is excellent too. If you appreciate being able to chat with a CS representative before you buy, Apollo has that option for extended hours.

I've also found their products to be highly reliable and I suspect it's because they have their own product lab and factory.  Apollo's Valiant ego vaporizer is my go to model when I want to keep things simple and don't want to carry a box mod or a heavy vaporizer.

Apollo also manufactures their own line of e-liquids, so they're all US made.

4 – DirectVapor

Reliable, popular and very affordable,  DirectVapor is the 2016 newcomer to the ecig market. They carry a variety of excellent vaporizers, tanks, e-liquids and accessories, all at discount prices.

Beginners will find great prices on the popular import, Eleaf's iStick Starter kit. For intermediate and advanced vapers we recommend the Eleaf iStick 50W Starter Kit Bundle.

DirectVapor also carries popular e-liquid brands including Space Jam, Cosmic Fog and Motley Brew.

A big fan of DirectVapor and Vaporfi. You should consider adding VaporDNA to the list, they always seem to have the latest mods and shipping has always been fast when I have ordered.

    1. Thanks Sandra, we’ll consider them for a review! Since we’re committed to a “top 5” list, they would have to rank above the best sellers we selected.

I agree with your list, especially the top 3…spot on. I’m also a fan of DirectVapor and you should consider looking more into them…I’d probably have them at #3 myself (Vaporfi is definite #1).

    1. Thanks for your feedback Mike! Looks like we recommend the same products. We review and update our “best” list every few months.

  1. Agree with the companys listed. But I would personally rank DV higher.. how come only #5?

    1. Hi PROs. There are so many brands of ecigs we think if a company can make it to the top 5 we still rank them in the “superior class”. Happy Holidays and Happy Vaping!
